Remember, there will be a substitute on Friday, Monday and Tuesday as my wife and I attend a family wedding in Rome. I will try to check my email but I am not sure of the web availability where we will be. We will have the same substitute for the three days and she is someone who has filled in a lot at Wilbur last year. Homework should be returned on Friday and new homework should be given out on Monday. If it is not, I will deal with it on Wednesday and due dates will be adjusted.
Another reminder about behavior reports. The top two selections are developmentally appropriate for the beginning of 1st grade. If you see, occasionally, that your child has gotten an okay or a missing some on their card they are not "in trouble" I'm just letting you know what happened that day. Anytime there is the lowest item circled, I will attempt to write on the card what the behavior was.
Next week we will be working on the "ck" digraph and sequencing some stories to help with comprehension. We will also be working on the parts of a sentence, the naming and the telling (what used to be called subject and predicate). In Writing we will continue to work on neatness, spacing and conventions (correct capitals and punctuation). In Math we will continue with combining numbers and start working on combinations of numbers to equal another number (1+9=10, 2+8=10 etc.). In Science we will still be working on weather and I hope to get to the water cycle and clouds.
Your child should memorize their lunch number. This is also their password for the computers. Next week I will send home their user name so they can practice typing these at home. (I will also send home a paper keyboard so students can practice offline.) My goal is that by November 1st all students will be able to login to a computer by themselves and access appropriate educational programs and websites to enhance their learning.
Have a great weekend!
