It is hard to believe it is already 2014 and we've missed another 2 days of school. I trust everyone had a restful extended Winter Break. This week we are starting our new Science Unit on States of Matter (Solids, Liquids and Gases). We will be doing lots of hands on "experiments" - but nothing too messy. This week we will also be finishing Unit 3 in Math - Story problems with addition and subtraction, number lines and combinations with an assessment on Friday. In Reading, we will set the stage for learning about long vowel sounds in words and the rules that govern when a vowel is long or short. The end of the 2nd Marking Period is on Friday 1/17 and, soon, you will be getting information about conferences.
I hope that we can get through the rest of the year (or at least this week) with no more snow days!
Stay warm!
