This week we will be learning about the short u sound as in duck and adding r to words (dip - drip). We will continue our work on phrasing to help our fluency and noting details to help our comprehension. In Writing, we will be writing more personal narratives.
In Math we will continue with counting on (5+6 is "put 5 in your head and count on 6 more 6,7,8,9,10,11. 5+6=11), adding 3 numbers and, later this week, subtraction!!
In Social Studies, we will be talking a bit about our government and why we have next Tuesday off.
Last Friday, we met with Mrs. Boettcher's class, our 4th grade buddies (you can see photos on the photo page under more... above). We will meet with them once or twice a month to work on Reading and Writing and foster a sense of community between our classes.
Some reminders, I will be turning in the Field Trip forms on Tuesday (tomorrow). If you have not returned it and cannot until a later date, please let me know ASAP.
Thursday morning we have an assembly with Smokey the Bear and Friday afternoon we have a character building assembly.
Don't forget to fill out your reading logs!
Science projects are due Monday November 1. (See under "more...." for project ideas)
November Book order forms will be coming home, soon.
Have a great week,
Dave Ostheimer
