I hope everyone got to see their child's performance in our Reader's Theatre activity. We will be doing more "plays" at the end of May (and I hope the children speak a little louder).
This week in reading we will be working on our long u sound with "u consonant silent e" as in tune. We will also be discussing verbs. Another skill we work on is alphabetizing. For fluency we will work on our intonation, how the way we use our voice can convey the meaning of a word or sentence.
In Writing, we will get to our vacation story. Where would your child like to go? How will he get there? Who will come with her? What will they do? We will also discuss our research project on a wild animal.
In Math, we will be working on patterns and skip counting. We will make patterns by clapping, stomping and snapping our fingers. We will skip count but not just by 2's from 0 but by 2's from 1, by 3's from 1 or 2, 4's from 1,2 or 3, 5's from 1,2,3 or 4 and 10's from any number.
In Science, our plants have come and they have been put in the terrariums. We are now just waiting for our creatures. We will be planting seeds on Tuesday and will watch and record as the sprout and grow.
This week you will be getting copies of our Theme 5 test, which your child read without help, and our Unit 4, 5 and 6 Math Test. Please sign and return them and let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
