I saw some great animal projects last week and I'm looking forward to the writing of our reports. In Language Arts we will discuss the long u sound made with /oo/ as in boot and /ew/ as in few. We will have one more Oral reading Fluency Assessment and I'm looking for students to read at least 60 words correct per minute with 2 or less errors.
In Math we are continuing our work on skip counting and place value and will soon start our final unit on 3-D shapes.
In Science we have been studying the food chain and in Social Studies we will finsh with maps. I will be collecting boxes - shoebox size or a bit bigger also any cylanders (oatmeal boxes) to use in a mapping activity and to reinforce our 3-D shapes. If you have any boxes please send them in by next Monday.
Mark your calendar for next Tuesday June 4 which is both field day and our referendum. I hope you will come out from 9:15-11:15 to cheer on the kids (and don't forget to vote FOR the referendum while you're here).
Have a great week.

PS It is suppossed to be very hot later this week. Please send your child to school with a water bottle because they do get thirsty!
