Interim Reports will be mailed out later this week. A grade of EP will not be given on interims. This is not a report card but just a snapshot so parents can see if their child is understanding the concepts we are going over.
On Wednesday, your child will be able to go to the holiday shop during library. Last week, your child brought home a pamphlet with an envelope attached for the shop. Please write the amount of money your child may spend for each recipient and put the money in that (or another) envelope.
This week in Reading and Writing we will be working on the ch and tch digraph. We will also be sequencing stories (putting the plot in order of first, then, next, finally). We will also continue to work on character and setting. We will read a story and then write about what we would do if we found ourselves in that situation.
In Math, we are continuing our work on combinations of two addends to make a number (9+1=10, 8+2=10 etc.). Your child will need to be able to show me combinations of numbers that make a number between 1 and 15.
Last week, I returned a paper we had done on counting by 5's. Most students are able to count by 5's orally but some have a problem when they have to put it in writing.
In Social Studies we are continuing our work on needs and wants through our collaboration with Junior Achievement. We will also be continuing our studies of Holidays Around the World.
I have been reading The Magic Tree House - Mummies in the Morning to the class and we have been discussing the Egyptian Pyramids and mummies.
Finally, please make sure your child brings a jacket to school. If it is cold and your child does not have proper clothing, he or she may have to stay inside for recess in another grade level's class.
