This week in Reading we will be having our Common Assessment on Theme 5. The students will have to read passages and questions and answers by themselves. I will remind them of reading strategies but will not read anything to them but the directions. This assessment will show their reading ability as well as reading comprehension and retained phonics skills. As I have said previously, things get much more difficult as the year progresses. The test consists of 2 reading passages and 10 questions. Due to our short week, a special day on Thursday and In-service on Friday, we will not be starting a new unit but, instead, will be doing a reader's theatre activity.
In Math, we will have our Unit 6 assessment and, on Thursday, students will rotate to other classes for Mathmania. If they have clothing with patterns or numbers on them, they should wear it.
In Writing, students will finish their Leprechaun stories and we will start a story about where we would like to visit on summer vacation.
In Science, we will start our Unit on Organisms. Some time this week, our organisms will arrive in the classroom and we will set up a habitat for them.
Our class has over 100 compliments! This is the fastest any of my classes has ever reached this mark. You should be very proud of your children! I am!
Have a great week and remember, no school for the kids on Friday March 25!
