This week in Language Arts we will work on the /ck/ digraph especially using words that also incorporate short i or short a. Our comprehension component will be summarizing a story by describing the beginning, the middle, and the end. In grammar we will discuss the telling part of a sentence. (The naming tells us "who" and the telling tells us "did what".) Back in the day we called it the predicate.
In Math we will discuss combinations. If Mrs. Ostheimer says I have to eat 7 vegetables and I ate 1 pea, how many carrots do I need to eat? We will also be playing games were we find missing addends. If I have 5 coins and 3 are on heads, how many are on tails?
In Science we will discuss wind and temperature.
This week we will change teachers for Reading Intervention. I have 5 students from my class and 20 0ther students and we will be working on story comprehension. Each teacher will be working on different skills. In the next week or two we will also be adding Math Intervention.
IMPORTANT: Our special schedule has changed, we now have Library on Wednesday and Gym on Thursday!!
Finally, Miss Naff and Miss Schwartz are back to their regular University of Delaware class schedule. They will revisit us at the end of October for another week of classroom experience. Look at the class Facebook page to see pictures of them in action!
Have a great week!
