Today, your students took their first reading test that they had to read every part of by themselves. I will be sending it home on Wednesday or Thursday so you can see how they did. Last week we finished Unit 5 - Measurement in Math and the assessment is in your child's folder. Please sign it and return it as soon as possible.
This week in Math we are starting our unit on Addition and Addition with multiple addends (5+2+2+1=10). We will be discussing the various ways that we can compose a number. We will continue working on time and fractions.
Here is a great website for math practice:

In Reading we are working on Problem and Solution although we will continue to review cause and effect. Our phonics skill is long a with silent e.
In Social Studies we are learning Map Skills and we will review our Solids and Liquids Science curriculum.
As you may know, the referendum a few weeks ago failed to pass and that will have serious repercussions on our school. The first thing that you will notice is that the school will no longer be able to provide your child with supplies. I will send home a note when your child needs more crayons, glue sticks or when their scissors break. Please send in the needed supply as soon as you can as we use these items almost everyday. Please keep crayons to the 24-36 count variety. Be warned, most children are not very careful with their crayons and if they remain on the floor at the end of the day, the custodian sweeps them up and they either get thrown away or put in a container with other unclaimed colors. I do not try to match crayons with students.
Have a great week and Spring Break is right around the corner!
