Spring Break starts Friday. Until then we have some things to finish up in the classroom. In Writing, we will be writing a descriptive paragraph about our favorite fruit. Using describing words we will write about how it looks, feels and most importantly tastes! Yes we will be tasting our favorite fruit for this assignment.
In Reading, we will be finishing Lesson 21 and our phonics skill of silent e making an "a" say its name and not its sound.
This video explains the concept: magic e
This video shows our previous skill: ay ai
We will also continue our discussion on our comprehension strategy: problems and solutions.
In Math, Unit 6 is all about combinations - how many different ways can we make a number? Making 10 is a very important skill for 2nd grade as students will be working with larger numbers and will need to make connections between 10 and 100.
Here is a website where your student can practice finding the combinations of two numbers that make 10 (and other numbers).
math tools
8, 9 and 10 are under Kindergarten. Do not go to 20, 50 and 100 which is under 1st grade until your child shows you they can do the first 3.
On Thursday, we will also be solving more difficult word problems (and there could be prizes involved)!
This week we will be finishing up our "me in the world" activity for Social Studies.
Have a great week and enjoy your break next week!
