Report Cards have been mailed and you should receive them any day. Please remember, grades are based on where your child has achieved based on our State Standards not on his or her effort! Be positive no matter what you see on the report card. Children all develop at different rates and some concepts are more difficult for some children to grasp than others. With time, commitment patience and your child's further development, we will all get there.
This week we will be having conferences on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you do not know your time or you cannot make it, please let me know ASAP. Please be on time, we only have 20 minutes to discuss your child's progress and to answer any questions. To accommodate conferences, we have early dismissal Tuesday thru Friday, Monday is a regular school day.
Even though we have early dismissals, we will be moving forward with our lessons. In Reading, we will learn about short e (as in web) and work on fluency by reading with expression. (No robots!) In Writing, we will write a story about what we do in Fall. In Math, we will review how to answer story problems and how to find different combinations that make up a number (1+9=10, 2+8=10...9+1=10) and we will take our Unit assessment. In science we have two more experiments and then review for our Assessment. In Social Studies we will touch on the events of 1492 and what is different and the same in the world today.
Our class goes to the Book Fair on Monday at 10:15. The book Fair will also be open during conferences.
Friday October 15 is our first Spirit Day. It is an "80's" theme. Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember the 80's vividly - I am not looking forward to it! (Although I may be bringing back the mullet!) It is not a requirement to dress in 80's fashion but your children can if they want to.
I look forward to seeing you all at conferences!
